What I can hear... Something To Believe In, by Parachute
This past week... was exactly the opposite of the week before. This week, we had the Priests, Deacons, & Seminarians conference from Monday - Thursday, and High School 2 starting Friday! So we've been running conferences for 9 days straight. I can't say how rewarding it has been to see all these people coming to encounter Christ in a deeper and more intimate way, some for the first time in their lives.
I've been reading… The Great Gatsby. Finally.
Recent realization... The number of people on Liturgy Committee is 7 for a reason. (I mean, it is the Biblical number of perfection!) This weekend, 3 committee members went to a wedding and 2 had substitutes. Whew, am I glad we had those subs! Even down one person, things just didn't flow as well. Masses and adoration still went well, and nothing major went wrong (other than consecrating 400 too few hosts Friday and 900 too many hosts today!) but I will be glad when we are 7 once again.
I'm oh-so-grateful for... Fr. Patrick! I don't even know is last name, but he was one of the priests who came to the youth conference with his youth group this weekend. He is a "baby priest"- ordained a mere month ago, and signed up for every. single. confession time because he "wanted practice". Seriously, this man was one of the most passionate, excited priests I have ever met! He took time with each penitent and wasn't worried about taking a long time if they needed it, and when he was finished for a particular time slot, even though he was tired and hungry, he stood talking to committee for another 15 minutes to get to know us. And then he went outside to eat lunch and heard another 25 confessions. Seriously. This priest. He just gives me so much hope for the future of the Church
Next week... As embarrassed as I am to say it, I really need to clean my dorm room! It's not "that bad", and I know most people would probably think this is normal, but there are just those little odds and ends laying around that are really starting to bother me. Plus, even though this is a room for 2 people, I'm trying to keep my stuff on "my side"..... that's not working 100% ;)
I'm looking forward to... Hopefully seeing Stasia tomorrow! We both have the afternoon off :) Ah, the benefits of having a friend working 20 minutes away!
